BALCONES HEIGHTS

Balcones Heights is an incorporated city at the center of San Antonio. Located mid-way between the South Texas Medical Center and downtown San Antonio, at the intersection of I-10 and Loop 410, Balcones Heights is home to the annual Balcones Heights Jazz Festival, Dave & Buster’s, Wonderland of the Americas, and the Bijou Cinema Cafe. The City is now home to many medical professional offices, new pedestrian and transit-oriented developments, and the Methodist TexSan Hospital. The City is governed by its own City Council, operates its own Police and Fire Departments, and is at the center of San Antonio’s pilot Bus Rapid Transit System.

Most of the city is served by San Antonio Independent School District.  Most residents of the San Antonio ISD section are zoned to Baskin Academy, with a small portion zoned to Maverick Elementary. All such residents are zoned to Longfellow Middle School, and Jefferson High School, all in San Antonio.
